Therapeutic Orientation
Erin approaches therapy from a strengths-based, client-centered orientation. Erin tailors her approach to the specific need each client brings to therapy. She has a very pragmatic approach: meet each client where they are at and work with them to make their life more wonderful.
During your first 2 or 3 sessions you can expect to work with Erin to create a treatment plan. Erin will help you create clear goals, and a plan to meet those goals. This therapy is solution-focused, and aimed to help you experience success, using evidence-based practices.
Erin enjoys working with diverse clients, including blended/nontraditional families, and the LGBTQI community.
Youth and Families
When supporting children and teens, Erin employs play therapy, art therapy, social skill building, narrative therapy, somatic therapy, as well as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy.) Her work with children and teens incorporates family systems. She often uses non-violent communication to help families move through conflict and learn more healthy communication patterns. She also helps children and parents with behavior modification and positive parenting skills. She collaborates with with families, schools and community resources to treat the whole client.
OCD, Anxiety and Depression
When treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Erin implements exposure and response prevention, which is the gold standard of care for OCD. She guides clients through a protocol that has been shown to produce and average of a 40% reduction in OCD symptoms. Erin also uses broader CBT strategies, somatic therapy and mindfulness to help clients manage and reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and OCD.
